Denver Art Museum – Biophilia

ABOUT

Founded in 1893 as the Denver Artists’ Club, the Denver Art Museum today is one of the largest art museums between Chicago and the West Coast. The museum’s global art collections represent cultures around the world, with more than 70,000 works of art in 12 collections. The museum’s global collections also reflect work by artists from Denver and the Rocky Mountain region—and provide invaluable ways for the community to learn about the world.

PROJECT OVERVIEW

ShadowComm recently had the privilege of partnering with the Denver Art Museum to showcase their work in the award-winning exhibition Biophilia: Nature Reimagined. Throughout the exhibit, visitors explore the works of renowned artists, designers, creatives and technologists to explore their psychological, emotional, and spiritual connections with nature.

THE WORK – Web & Mobile Application

ShadowComm worked closely with the exhibit’s Curator, Interpretive Specialist and team members to create an interactive wall to capture and display rich data visualization. Upon strolling through the exhibit, museum visitors discovered iPads mounted to the wall where they answered a 10-question survey about how closely they felt their relationship with nature. Upon submitting the survey, an interactive dot-point was plotted on the wall showing the score at the top. Scoring ranged from 1 through 5 with 5 indicating the strongest connection with nature. Users could also scan a QR code and take the survey on their own devices and had the option of getting the results emailed to them directly.

THE RESULT

The exhibition was a huge success and ShadowComm is immensely proud to have been a part of Biophilia and the Denver Art Museum’s mission and deep history with the city of Denver.
